HyVee You Should Be Ashamed

I have to admit I am a sucker for magazines. I especially love any that have to do with food and recipes to go with. HyVee Seasons magazine has some good ideas occasionally and I like to pick it up while there. However, the current magazine that is out for the month of January has an article on how to transfer dinner leftovers into lunches for the next day. There are 5 meals and 5 lunches and it appears to be enough for about 4 people. I am not opposed to the idea of using leftovers and trying not to waist food. I am opposed to the cost.
The cost of this "Fun Way To Leftover" costs around $207.96 before taxes. This is about $20 for each meal and about $5 a person per meal. Now they do not advertise this as any form of budgeting, but give me a break. This is way expensive for the average family. Eating meals with this cost would be way more than I am willing to spend. Another fun fact is that there is a long list of what HyVee considers pantry staples. While I have many of these there are a few that I might not. If you were on a tight budget I would say you might not have all of these.
While I have nothing personally against Hyvee or it's publications; It feels wrong to me to publish such articles when there are so many struggling just to get by. I am here to have some definite alternatives to expensive meals.
Watch out for my posts on meals that are super tasty and inexpensive. In particular I will be posting on leftover ideas that will almost be a freebie to make. Let's just say I can play "Chopped" any day in my kitchen and it usually turns out beyond my expectations. I will make these to be about 4 servings. There will always be leftovers; unless you just have some big eaters in your home.
