Come Get Your Down Low on Event Take Out

I will be the first to admit that take out is always appealing around a holiday. Mother's Day was no different in this regard. For weeks now I have been getting emails from local restaurants with offers for bundle family packages for Mother's Day meals. I will compare a few here just to see if there was a good deal to be had.

This is from a local chain pizza place called Grimaldi's. We have eaten there, and it is one of the best New York style pizza's I had. This is actually a really good deal.

I know, I know, ......Olive Garden. But heh, it's not too shabby. This little trio above is a measly 64.99.

The above food is from another local chain restaurant called Maggiano's. We have eaten here as well, and the food is pretty good. I would say it's just a step better than an Olive Garden. The carry out bundle here is $97 and is a heat at home scenario.
Let's break this down and just see what you get. These 3 deals would only feed 4 to 6 people and there doesn't seem to be too many leftovers. Only one of these, (the pizza) is dine in. The other two are carry out. This could be a downside for many. I just want the food to already be at home. The pizza deal would be a tough deal to beat especially with the quality of the food. However, the two pasta deals are a little high for what you could make at home instead.
As tempting as it is for me to just let someone else make the meal, I just couldn't justify spending that type of money on pasta. I did end up making some pasta for Mother's Day and it was enjoyable. Actually, my daughter did most of the work as a gift to me. Our total bill for our dinner was under $30 including wine and a dessert. She made most of it ahead of time and so it was super easy. I realize this is not everyone's cup of tea. It works best for us, and I enjoy the quality time of visiting at home instead of a noisy restaurant.
